Yes, you should have asked.  Send cameras by national mail, NOT by FedEx,
UPS, or their ilk.  These folks are brutal on the packages entrusted to
their care:  there IS a reason that they make a profit, and the reason is
the low wages they pay their help which, in turn, means that they hire
Harry the Gorilla and Ralph the Moron-Who-Should-Be-Institutionalized as
their loaders.

BIG shippers -- LL Bean and Eddie Bauer and QVC -- sell clothes for the
most part and these companies know how to pack clothing so that it will not
be damaged.  But a precision instrument ought NEVER be entrusted to the
care of these ham-handed apes.
