Simon,
As all things Leica, you have lots of choices.  I would start by
suggesting a Summitar.  If you recall we discussed this lens last week
and pretty much agreed that with the exception of flare this was a
pretty good lens.  My next choice would be a collapsible Summicron a
little better performance twice the price.

If you are feeling adventuresome, then do a Capa thing and pick up a
50mm Zeiss Sonnar in LTM.  This might be from Jena, or be called a
Jupitor, or could be a Nikkor.  These are nice sharp, fairly small
lenses that can be pretty cheap in the ex Soviet case to pretty
expensive in the case of an authentic Zeiss in LTM.

Last choice for monetary reasons would be on of the NOS Leica lenses
issued a couple of years ago in LTM.  New glass, fully multicoated,
modern performace and price.

I haven't brought up any of the Elmars or Cosina offerings for any good
reason that I can name.
