My point being, No one is trying to ban automobiles or make it harder to
qualify for a license, why not?  They are just as dangerous as guns?  Many
states do nothing to regulate who can drive a car once you have the initial
license - after passing a short written test and a brief 10 minute driving
test.  A joke compared to some of the tests given in Europe (Germany and
Poland are two I am familiar with).  You can't believe how many idiots in
the US who think they can out run trains and end up killing themselves and
any passengers in the car.  My son in lay is an railroad investigator for
the state of Texas and it is unbelievable how many people do just that.

On the other hand, the test in Texas for a hand gun permit (to carry one)
is much harder and requires passing a gun safety class and an extensive
proficiency test, along with a rather complete background check.
