Dear BR,

your idea is very interesting.

Before I studied in more details the CMOS technology of Fill Factory, that
claims very large angular tolerance (for this, go and have a look to their
website: http://www.fillfactory.com/htm/applications/htm/high_resolution.htm
, and by the way, check also the LEAF C-MOST cmos they produced for CREO
society, isn't it thin enough to go in the film guide of a Leica-M? Nice,
no?), I was thinking of a special Microlens Array (a special layer put in
front of the CCD in order to enlarge the quantity of recieved light) in
which the microlenses were displaced to re-collimate the light on the
photosite (So, the microlens of each pixel had to be shifted in the
direction of the center of picture, nearly nul in the center, biggest shift
in the corner). I was also thinking of some sort of Microlens array combined
with a microfresnel or catadioptric layer, that angled the light just before
hitting the photodiodes (everybody knows the effect of this, look at a
rolleiflex screen form 50', and a current accumate screen, that's
suppression of light incidence defect, no?). I don't know though if such a
device could accept every angles coming from all leica-M lenses present and
past.
Such microlens array- microfresnel array can be done with present technology
( http://www.canyonmaterials.com/technology.html , I invite you also to
check this one)

best

now,

Dear BD,

I would like to explain my aims here, as your critics are quite direct.
I recognize first I can't help this, I'm always thinking about this
DigiBack, and some time, I cannot sleep because of technical details I
encounter in my reflexions, so, maybe it's related to phantasm. But, I
disagree on the point it is useless. If one never stops to say it's
impossible, mainly because the incidence angle of the light problem, for
sure, we'll never see this done in our life. So I bid on the fact technology
will advance more and more quickly, and if today, the sensor doen't exist,
be sure tomorrow it will. It isn't useless to think about this, to show ther
is an interest to Leica, even they don't listen, rely on me to email them my
webpage link, I already discuss the thing with one of their engineers. It's
also interesting to think of ways to inplement this, to have an idea of what
can be done, what cannot. For example, I you read the last page I added
about interface between body and digiback, you would understand for example
why an auto ISO mode will not be possible with the Leica-M without having
the body too much modified (though this could lead to electronic shutter
speed of whatever you want, 1/4000, 1/8000 with your Leica-M, or in Bulb
mode, the digiback could take multiple pictures at let say 4i/s) I rejected
this to maintain the M philosophy of the system.
In the end, this is also useful to show you this, in order to know what
other leica users think of it (I try to make a form about that on the
webpage, so to have some stat data).

and as far as I remeber, I never dreamed of jets and race cars when I was
boy, rather well skies and mounts, lakes and flowers, wilderness maybe.
and to be complete drawing was done under powerpoint in full scale, but I'm
not proud of this, I would prefer Autocad.

Best also

after that,

Best Mock,

Your scripturals are always quite sibylline though poetic for me, but I
always feel some kindness and positive mind in, but maybe this is due to my
poor understanding of your puns. I fear maybe this is humour about some
misused expressions on my webpage, if this is the case, please don't
hesitate, tell me directly that there is another word more accurate for
trigger half-depressed or things like that. I will be delighted to improve
myself on this point.

Best too

JB, thanks for recognizing I'm thinking about this ;-)

Best

Grégoire Vandenschrick
