I totally agree with Tina: stay as long as you can...depending on the 
length of the case, the atmosphere may change throughout the course of the 
operation, leading to different vibes and moments for you to shoot.  Again, 
depending on the case and the folks involved, much of the time will likely 
involve very strong concentration, but interspersed will be moments of 
increased tension, levity, relief, etc.  These tend to be brief, but would 
be worth trying to catch.  As Tina said as Ted said "watch the eyes."
