The body of the new lens is marked to 0.5m. No other M lens is so 
marked and the rangefinder normally uncouples before then as well. So 
there must be a "locked out" portion of the focus travel only available 
when mounted upside down with the eyes attached. So the short answer is 
that the eyes will not magically transform your 90AA into a "macro" lens
