Just my 2 cnts. It's easy to decide, however. Do what makes you happiest! I am agonizing over whether to buy a 1960's vintage 35/2.0 Summicron or two CV lenses instead. I know the CV lenses are very good and cost way less than the Leica lenses, and I can get 2 CV for the price of the used Summicron, BUT, One of the reasons I bought Leica in the first place was the lenses. AAAHH!! What to do? My phone has been ringing quite a bit today and my email is busy, too. There will always be folks to whom something like this will appeal, and to others, no. It was the same with the MP. It was roundly criticized here, and in other public places (probably because most of the folks who feel free to post messages are those who are pretty outspoken anyway, and the quieter folks usually say very little), but it sold well, and still continues to sell well. Some folks like one thing, others another. It's a matter of taste, and largely, I think, buying decisions are based on pure emotion. I'm sure there's hardly a person in "here" who would deny that the visual appeal of his or her M6, or the design of a lens, or some other factor other than pure utility, was the straw that broke the camel's back and sent him/her running like mad dogs to the camera store. How many times have we all stood in front of the Leica case and lusted heartily over what was inside? Come on, 'fess up. The thing that really seems to get everyone steaming is price, though. I think our poor weak dollar has more to do with this than just about anything else. That and Leica's 19th century manufacturing model. One at a time, one at a time. That's why we like 'em. They're made by hand. Only 12 M cameras a day "roll" off the bench. Actually, they travel around in a little wooden crate until all 12 are finished at whatever stage, and then on to the next workbench. Leica is a luxury item, just like Aston Martin, and Jerry's beloved Testarossa. A beautifully engineered and well-designed item as well. It's not something you or any other dealer can control. I think the boys at Solms were drinking too much Schnapps when they put the pencil to this deal. I agree with those who are disappointed. It is sad too see strong supporters of Leica products saying it's over-the-top. But they are stating the facts, and that's what we all have to look at if we are realistic about the camera. If the initial reaction in any indication, I would venture a guess that this camera isn't going to move very well.
