The Cardhu situation is most serious indeed, and I have been listening to the BBC with baited breath all day to hear the results of the meeting in Edinbourgh today. Fortunately, Diageo appears to have backed down in the face of the moral arguments of the single-malt makers and has agreed to change the colour and the label on its bastard "pure malt" concoction and also to clearly identify the liquid as being a blended rather than single malt whiskey.
