The street price is said to be 2k usd, so for a specialty camera is not that
bad. Leica is scared cuz the number of units sold get less each year and for
them to be around, they need to embrace digital on their main product line.
It has nothing to do with epson (which I think it is just doing a fun
project!!)

Apparently only 10,000 will be made, period, and half are expected to be
sold in Japan.  And the price...are you sitting down?...$3500 USD.

If true, this camera doesn't sound like a serious contender.   If Leica was
scared into making their digital M announcement by rumours of the Epson,
perhaps they are now reconsidering?
