Hello James

Appreciate your honesty and down to earth statements. I agree about the 
$2500 lens - it does not necessarily give one a $2500 picture.

Since you are using Pentax M42 lenses - you should consider acquiring the 
50/1.4 ( 8 element ) earlier series
