Tim -  the one I like is Restorer2000 http://www.bitmart.net/r2k.shtml
It restores the files with their original file names.  The older one - 
Photo Rescue http://www.datarescue.com/photorescue/ - changes the file 
names and makes it really difficult to find restored files.
They have both been able to find files that were corrupted, erased, and 
written over.
