Well, I don't have a beard and the last time I checked I didn't really look
like a terrorist (I really look like a harmless grandmother!), but I have
been stopped at every possible check point, had to remove my shoes and
belt, produce my card saying I have metal knees, put everything I own
through the metal detectors, had very personal pat-down inspections and
answer a million questions about why I have so many stamps in my passport
and why I'm carrying so much equipment. I allow at least four hours for
airports now and nearly missed my connections in Miami with a five hour
layover. I'd rather drive, but it's hard to get to the places I go by car.
