I've always been a little irresponsible and rather cavalier; it's why I
have a Leica. I agree with you though the potential is serious and I
would never do that in Europe. My Egyptian friends get strip searched
automatically flying domestic. In the words of Frank Zappa, "...the
world ain't getting any smarter so ya gotta make the stupidity work for
ya..."

I'm not making a judgment about the seriousness of it, Chris, just the
stupidity of it. ;-) Things are so nuts these days that I can honestly
see doing what you suggest resulting in, at a minimum, 24 hours of
serious incarceration and questioning - followed by one's life-long
place on a list of those requiring head-to-toe searches anytime they
even think of getting near an airplane.

Smuggling is a little harsh I think. It's not like I have illegal
immigrants in my pants. Well, they wouldn't be detected either.

With all due respect - 'smuggling' anything through airport security is
even dumber than taking pictures of canal locks. :-)

This is true, my wife found that out last trip. I roll everything in
plastic cans and keep them in my pants pockets along with my wallet and
some loose change. Never been caught.
