I'm 53 and as of last week looking for a "job". As in a "Job Job". Part-time
at least.
Not some sucker hires me to shoot some pictures.
As if they are going to come out,
Interested as in the response I might get.
The average age at Starbucks being well below me.
Kind of like that scene in "American Beauty" when Kevin Spacey is
interviewed by that fast food manager who is in his mid 20's.

I think you need a masters to teach. Which I ain't got.
But who knows?

All I know is "50" is middle age - the cover of the Oregonian yesterday did
a story on a 54 year old solder, a recent causality in Iraq who died
(playing touch football) and who was
"IN THE AUTUMN OF HIS YEARS".
Hey pal. I'm 53 and it ain't autumn!

But I'm confused as to this whole "seasons" thing.

The last day of Autumn is the Winter equinox, the shortest day of the year.
This does not sound at all good to me.

As it it sounds like you're dead even before Winter.
Autumn being the beginning of the end.
I think when Winter is over with, that?s it.
And for me that's a ways off. Or if you are around 50.
Winter ends with the spring equinox, March 21st.
Which we all know is day one.
Again.

Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter.
That?s how it goes.
Autumn is not until Sept. 21st.
That?s two months away.
IT'S STILL SUMMER BABY!

Yesterday my thermometer said 115 degrees Fahrenheit!
The hottest it has ever "said".
In the balmy pacific northwest yet!
Summer is the main right in the thick of it season.
I just remember most of my Schoolkid life dreaming of summer.
Kind of nirvanalike thoughts.
Does it really exist or did I just dream it up?
Needless to say whatever the teacher was saying went by the wayside.
I could see their lips moving.

But schools over and it ain't Autumn until the fat lady sings.
Thank god for air conditioning!
