I have used the S/H control on a few occasions to successfully rescue  
wedding photographs where the sun has caused too heavy shadows. I find that 
it  has 
to be used fairly sparingly, and will tend to desaturate the colours to a  
certain extent. I have to increase the saturation to compensate. The S/H 
control  
has its uses, but it can certainly be overdone.
