Subject: [Leica] Trinity Photo Workshops
From: locke at straylight.ca (Greg Locke)
Date: Wed Aug 4 05:13:50 2004

Please excuse the shameless self promotion.

For those heading to the Cape Cod workshop with Ted and have some greater
travel aspirations can hop over to Newfoundland for this workshop in
Spetember as a warm up for Ted and the Leica Gang.

It's "close" in a continental sense. :^)

There are direct flights to St. John's from Heathrow, Frankfurt and New
York(Newark)
Ironically, there are no direct flights from Canada. You have to change
planes in Halifax.

TRINITY
Photographic Workshops
With Greg Locke
Sept 3 - 5, 2004
The Artisan Inn
Trinity, Newfoundland

Learn the art of seeing and capturing the essence of place.

Join international photojournalist, Greg Locke, for this three day workshop
at The Artisan Inn in the historic community of Trinity, Newfoundland and
the surrounding coastal villages and seascapes.

You will get the opportunity to learn and practice travel, documentary,
adventure, landscape, seascape and portrait photography in the historic
community of Trinity, Newfoundland and the surrounding coastal villages.

At the heart of any good photograph is both the passion for the subject and
your ability to uniquely capture it. If you love the outdoors, travel,
adventure and documentary photography yet find that your images keep looking
like average postcards, join Greg Locke for a weekend of learning how to
look at the natural and human environment with fresh new eyes.

This workshop strives to develop your natural eye first, and then bring the
technical skills of photography up to it. You will spend as much time
changing your perspective, sharpening your senses, and immersing yourself in
your surroundings as you will on developing new photographic skills.

Trinity, Newfoundland is a magical place. Spring time icebergs, whales,
historic fishing villages, stunning coastal scenery and wonderful people.
The light and changing weather will take your breath away with its purity
and brilliance.
You will understand why film makers chose this area for major motion
pictures such as The Shipping News and Random Passage.

Greg Locke has been a working photojournalist for more than 20 years with
publication credits in Macleans, Time, Forbes, Canadian Geographic, Equinox,
Mens Health, Utne Reader, Canadian Business, Globe & mail, der Spiegel and
many other national and international publications. His assignments have
taken him from the offshore oil fields of the North Atlantic to the civil
wars of The Balkans and the conflicts in Central Africa. Locke has three
books of his work published, the most recent, NEWFOUNDLAND ...journey into a
lost nation, with Michael Crummey, is a stunning collection of Locke's work
in Newfoundland over the past decade.
