Subject: [Leica] LUG membership, "A Waiting for Go/Dig" issue.

It may well be the digital thing as Mark says that has thinned the
ranks, but for me, a recovering lurker, that has not been the main
reason for disappearance and reappearance.

I find it is hard to know how to write for the LUG, and I'm speaking
only for myself, but I've noticed many times someone introduces himself
and then posts pictures, at times quite wonderful pictures, but gets
only the most middling response when another post, say on the difference
in circles of confusion between Summicrons from two different vintages,
gets a deluge; or else gets attacked for asking an innocent question
that has ignored some widely held belief. And then disappears.

Other forums I frequent have next to no discord, and I wonder why the
approach taken by certain obviously loved posters, who never say a
negative word about anyone, is not more universally adopted.

Personally I find the LUG invaluable and the photographic pearls dropped
have greatly improved my photography. I love the LUG. But it is possible
that some have not liked getting their hands bitten while looking for
pearls.

I found that private emails have garnished rich opinions on subjects
that actually might have been interesting to the whole LUG, or so it
seemed, but I did not feel secure enough to weather the possible
responses to take that public route.

But I'm back, publicly again, hoping to buy that 1.4 Summilux 50 before
Parkinson's gets me.
