If you read the Canon book about their lenses, Lens Work, it is clear that
boke is very important in their designs. It is the boke that I particularly
like in Canon lenses. The 85 f1.8 is particularly good and cheaper by a
factor of 4 than the f1.2! All the Canon primes I have used have good boke.
