I also missed most of this thread ,

I normally go with loose rolls in zip-lock .

Also mentioning the cumulative effect of multiple trips
through the scanner ......

if you want to take film with you
put the canisters in transparent bags
be polite and ask for a hand search
it helps if you put some extremely high speed film in the
bags
don,t use lead lined bags
whole delay no more then a minute
this procedure has been tried by me many times all over the

world without a 
problem
the worst place is Hong Kong but only if you are a pilot.
