Subject: [Leica] Zeiss Ikon Focus Shift

Bill Maxwell provided us with extensive information about Nikon's
floating element lens design, and Zeiss's apparently using something
similar, and then wrote...

"Funny thing is that no one called it "hype" when Nikon introduced the
CRC
system. What is the resistance to this new Zeiss product line that
prompts
such comments?"

Bill, Bill, Bill, are you serious, or is your tongue grafted to your
cheek? Surely you understand that most resident's of LUGland do not
consider Nikon to be competitive with Leica, while the new Zeiss line
most assuredly is. Therefore, if Nikon does it it's "interesting;" if
Zeiss does it it's marketing horseshit. Rest assured, if Leica did it,
it would be described as one of the great Leica innovations - even if
Nikon has been doing it for a decade or so. ;-)
