It's a replica, it'll sell like hotcakes in Japan. I posted some more 
info on my blog (below). I don't think that Nikon will even bother 
offering it in the States since there's little market here (and the 
ten Americans who might want to  buy it  can easily just buy it 
through a broker in Japan).
