I can't imagine that the solvent from a magic marker will make things
worse.

The ideal repair is to replace the vulcanite - $5 from DAG:

At that price, it isn't worth even experimenting with any other
solution.

I've a small patch missing just under the film speed reminder dial. Can
I get away with magic marker, or will its solvent make matters worse?
