I sometimes use a 1938 Ikonta folder -- no rangefinder or slr -- with the 
'normal' equivalent lens (105mm for a 6x9).  Just stop down to f8 and guess! 
Or, there are small rangefinders that fit in your pocket.

Here are two samples of pictures taken with the Ikonta.  The first was shot 
wide open, the second at f11.

As an aside, I love the color shifts I get shooting with the Ikonta's 
uncoated lens.
