I about died when I did that to my 50/2.5 Skopar (my least favorite 50).
I cannot imagine what I would be feeling if I dropped a 50/1.4 asph. By
the way, the damage to the Skopar was exactly the same...the focusing
ring would not turn.

Well, I dropped the new 50/1.4 Asph. I dropped it onto a ceramic tile 
floor. It's not happy. It has a dented hood which doesn't bother me 
but, unfortunately, the focusing binds.* I sent it back to Leica under 
passport. Good Leica, bad John
