Probably true. I was at a minimum referring to something like a LaCie.

Yes. We nearly had a seizure when they discontinued the 520. They 
really screwed everyone who needed high quality
screen at a "reasonable" price, when they killed that one. The Artisan 
is very nice, but costs twice as much as the 500
series they discontinued. We also gave up on the big 16x9 Sony's. 
Simply couldn't keep them in calibration, but it was
nice to see a full cinema frame at 100% on your monitor... ;-)

I agree the LCD appear to be crisper and Apple certainly makes the best 
out there. Remember the widescreen
LCD SGI used to sell? I think that is the grand daddy of the Apple 
displays.
