I don't see wisteria, or read the name, without thinking of Quentin
Compson sitting in the dark room of Miss Coldfield's in   the opening
of "Absalom Absalom". I read first "The Bear" (which I re-read almost
yearly in the autumn) and then "Absalom". Wonderful writing and
wonderful fiction.
