Subject: [Leica] Photojournalists and permission Indian tribal lands

Feli,
Within some very broad guidelines tribal law trumps any other law. So,
you can not plot the destruction of the U.S., but you can run a gambling
casino. You can not shoot Bureau of Indian Affairs officials, but you
can smoke peyote to your hearts content. You can discriminate against
just about anyone not a member of the tribe, you can set your own laws
pretty much as you see fit.

US law doesn't apply to tribal lands? I know they have a certain amount
of autonomy, but doesn't federal law apply to them in the same matter
that it does to individual states?
