For those of you who have searched for years for a copy of the Gunter
Osterloh's 1984 book on the Leica M, there is now a new version readily
available. It covers most of the material of the older book with
additional material on cameras and accessories up to the M7.

It is a good technical book with explanations of how the combined
view/rangefinder works, shutter basics, how the field of view changes
with distance focused and other such common LUG questions. Competent
photograph illustrates the relevant points. All the idiosyncrasies of
using an M camera are covered and explained in detail.

I have at times seen 1984 copies with asking prices in the $600US range
so why not jump on the bandwagon now for the paltry sum of $26US from
Amazon. It is good reading for when things go bump in the Leitz.
