I think the issue that's being pushed is the DMCA which prohibits
reverse-engineering so the information can be recovered. I suspect
that's what Adobe is barking at - that and their open "open" raw
format (used by the Digital R back, to keep things on topic, at least
vaguely).

I have to think this is a blunder of major proportions by Nikon -
following the Sony lead in having the digital music player use only
their own proprietary format. Sony has backed down from that one -
Nikon will take the same route this time, I feel sure -- or be totally
marginalized...even more.
