One of the main reasons for this lens purchase is to get that foot of extra
focussing distance -- I have a 21 that will focus to within 20 inches, and I
use that a lot -- talk about cut off heads -- but the closeness gives an
exciting immediacy to the results, even if my wrist can't frame quite as
well as my eye.

I am toying with the idea of getting a late Summicron 50, too, since the 40
was so (ha) cheap, but i think i'll use the 40 for a while first. i found on
a recent trip to Montreal that I used the 35 almost all the time (I took
only the 35 and 50).

so we'll see. I am not Ralph Gibson.
