Oh, yeah, one other thing:  What I'd really meant to say about this:

was that unless your highlights are too dense for whatever you're  
doing, you're not "overexposing" the film, you're just exposing it  
more.  So exposing film for a longer time and then pulling the  
development to make highlight density reasonable is not  
"overexposure," with or without a smug attitude.  It might, however,  
be a bad idea.
