Dear Luggers

Everything is OEM nowadays - I recently purchased a 80gb external hard disk
'made' by Ranger of Korea - so said the label

On opening - I found a Fujitsu drive - made in Thailand

Such is the state of the world's open economy and the race to make the
cheapest at the best place and to take to market in the shortest time

As regards to Tina's woes - I believe she may have missed 'burning' the
equipment for at least for 24 hrs after purchase before actually using them.

Due to OEM factors and shoddy QC - tolerances are sacrificed and the ones
she had may suffer from lack of
QC factors.

Further as I read that she was in S America - the humidity factor should not
be ruled out.

My 2c worth

Joseph L / Singapore
