Jeff, from a lurker and a retired doc, so my instincts are kicking in--a
call to the authorities might bring help for your mother-in-law, in the
event that she can't ride in the family car.  No need to get to Baton Rouge,
I don't think.  Just getting to the Dome might be a life-saving decision for
all of you.  Please.
