The 1.4 has a nice thick focus ring in the middle of the lens along with faster/quieter autofocus. It was worth the extra $200 for me just to stop hassling with that blasted focus ring. I've been planning on selling my Canon Elan 7/50 that I've had since my first photo class in college, but I guess I'll keep it and pray that they have a full-frame digital camera at a more consumer-level of cost in the next year. The D70's controls aren't as nice as Canon's, I don't like having to depress a second button for exposure and focus lock (rather than just hold the shutter trigger down halfway on Canons). -- MP wooderson@gmail.com
