Because there's no such thing as good, cheap, small and fast
wide/normal lenses for the APS-sized cameras.

If they were to come out with a digital-only 20/1.4 or 35/1.4 (to
match the fast 35 or 50 I usually use on an SLR), great - but the
trend seems to run toward largish, expensive constant-aperture zooms
(at f/2.8 or f/4) and I don't think I'm going to see my desired
primes.
