I've gotten fantastic results with the 18-70mm Nikkor zoom. It seems
to have been replaced by another consumer zoom. I picked it up for a
song and it is one of the sharpest lenses I've ever used. Covers a
nice range too.

Full-frame is not longer anything that worries me.

To tell the truth, the overhead of shoving the raw results from a 6mp
camera are enough (about 10 mb). I haven't found the need for more. I
only print up to A3 though (11x14 ? approx).
