Subject: [Leica] Digital FIBER prints

I just read their tech page. Very interesting. It look like they have
atraditional enlarger and replaced the negative
stage with what amounts to an LCD projector. They talk about 'digital grain'
that is visible at enlargements
beyond 8x10. I'm going to make an educated guess here and say that they are
seeing the grid pattern of the LCD
array, just as it is visible in LCD home theater projectors. If they were
using a tube (or laser) projector, this wouldn't be an issue. I think
ElevatorDigital uses a laser in their enlarger.

I've used San Miguel photo lab in Las Vegas New Mexico (www.bestlab.com).
They use a digital LCD enlarger and can print on a huge variety of papers
including fiber.
