This is the kind of silliness that says that just because a building is 
old, it is worth preserving. If previous centuries had thought like 
this, we would not today have some of the landmarks we revere--I assume 
that there was something on the spot where, say, the Palace of 
Westminster stands today, or the Empire State Building, or...
