I only used my Digilux 2 in the afternoon, so the analog residu will
be posted later on, but here are a few shots from our BLUG meeting of
yesterday.

Contrary to Michiel, I didn't have lens problems, but out of focus
photos I have nonetheless: the Digilux is just not up to fast
autofocusing, and I refuse to set it at higher ISOs than 100 because
of the high noise levels. So in most situations everything was shot
at low shutter speeds (see the EXIF data below the images).

Also, I'm not really a street shooter by nature, so I lack the
necessary instincts and very often am too late to fire at the right
moment.

But here they are:

After dinner we went to the Modemuseum (Fashion museum), where -
because Belgium is hosting Russia for Europalia- an exhibition about
Russian fashion was held. I caught Nathan in what is becoming a
typical digital shooter's pose, just after he shot 2 ladies appearing
from behind a wall:

Here is Nathan again in an info tunnel:

A view of the exposition space:

Nathan looking at an icon he remembered from his youth: a Wolga. And
me pointing the camera at him, and at what I myself would wish to
remember from my youth just behind him:

Just next to the Modemuseum is a fabulous (and expensive) bookshop
specialised in architecture and art. We went in, our cameras set off
the alarm, and then we headed into the (tiny) photography section.
Lucien and Nathan are checking the inventory:

A bit further on we passed the Vrijdagsmarkt (Friday's market), a
little market that is reputed for selling households from bankrupt
families every, yes indeed, friday. Lucien is shooting exactly the
same thing as me, but probably with better results because he had a
new and pristine 35 'cron on his MP ? la carte, and I had to cope
with the imperfections of the Digilux' Panasonic lens:

After the Vrijdagsmarkt I took Michiel, Lucien and Nathan to the
Voetgangerstunnel (Pedestrian's tunnel), one of the more interesting
spots in that part of Antwerp: a since the 1930's unchanged tunnel
linking the right and left banks of the river Schelde. Michiel and
Nathan are checking the photographic opportunities while descending:
http://users.telenet.be/philippe.orlent/BLUG/slides/L1020238.html

On the left bank, some youngsters asked what we were doing there (5
grown ups with each a strange looking camera on their belly MUST be
tourists) and if we couldn't take a photograph of them. I took me a
few shots to catch one of them in action. Yes, the Digilux has
shutter lag, too:

Finally we returned to the right bank via the same pittoresque
tunnel. Michiel often and very logically was a bit behind: lugging
around a big rangefinder like his Linhof Technica plus a tripod was
very courageous of him:
http://users.telenet.be/philippe.orlent/BLUG/slides/L1020245.html

To conclude: my 3 very pleasant fellow BLUGgers in the middle of the
tunnel, in a bit strange but beautiful light:

No (digital) shots of Erwin Puts, since he had to leave just after
lunch. But what a source of interesting and valuable information he is.

I hope you all enjoyed it.
Philippe
