__Winner of Leica European  Publishers Award for Photography 2005 chosen

In cooperation with Leica  Camera AG, the European photo book publishers 
Actes Sud (France), Apeiron Photos  (Greece), Dewi Lewis Publishing (UK), 
Edition 
Braus im Wachter Verlag (Germany),  Lunwerg Editores (Spain) and Peliti 
Associati (Italy) have chosen the winner of  the ?Leica European Publishers 
Award 
for Photography 2005?. Besides having his  book project 'Paradiso' 
published, 
the Italian Lorenzo Castore will receive  prize money of 10,000 euros and an 
engraved LEICA M7 rangefinder system camera.  Previously known under the 
name ?
European Publishers Award for Photography  2005?, the competition has been 
one 
of the culture projects of Leica Camera AG  ever since it was initiated in 
1994. This year, 'Leica' is being added to the  name for the first time to 
show 
the involvement of the Solms company in one of  the most important photo 
book 
awards in Europe.
The closing date for the next  competition is January 31st, 2006.

document. ?In a series of articles I have covered the design and  
characteristics of the current Leica R lenses. These lenses comprise a 
period of  about 
thirty years, a timespan that saw some fundamental changes of direction in  
optical design and lens manufacture. In this last chapter I will review 
these  
changes and chart the impact they may have on Leica lens design, so the 
Dutch  
photojournalist Erwin Puets.
