Subject: [Leica] Japanese paper reports Canon to take over Leica

What I find very curious is that neither Leica nor Canon has denied the
report, despite considerable comment by Leica enthusiasts in several places
that
senior-level Leica and Canon employees must be aware of.

If it were untrue, one might think that one or the other company, or
possibly Hermes, would say something , so investors would have accurate
information to guide them...

The fact that no one so far has said anything publicly -- even over a
holiday when their offices are closed -- seems to give some credence to the
report.
The troubling thing, though, is that there has been no further word from
anyone, including Asahi Shimbun, beyond the initial report that supposedly
originated with Asahi Shimbun, a highly respected Japanese newspaper.

What many American corporations do in similar situations is to say that it
never comments in such cases...This, at least, would let everyone know that
Leica and/or Canon is aware of the report. --regards, bob cole
