They are taken from the western most end of the Surrey Hills/Weald, facing 
South 
West. The smog and mist combination was so heavy that you couldn't see the 
South 
Downs on that day...they are the next line of hills south (about twenty 
miles)and normally easily visible.

Whereabouts is "home"?
