Nathan and others,
It is strange that you react this way. I have been friends with quite a few
people that at one time or another made their living with rather specialised
weapons in places that they couldn't really talk about.

One was an agricultural specialist who spent several years in Laos (sort of)
in the late 1960's. He is the one who expained why he might want to use an
AK at night after he finished with a scoped 7mm mag. Sound signatures will
confuse a lot of people at night. Interestingly enough, he spoke fluent
Chinese, was married to a woman he met in China somewhere in the border
region with China and was one of the nicest, most considerate people you
could ever want as a neighbor. You did want to get invited over when he was
cooking.

Another gentleman had just traded in his uniform and had spent time
somewhere in Africa and the Middle East and really couldn't say what he had
been doing. Again, a very considerate person with a wonderful warm family
who was very involved in local civic endeavors to the betterment of those
less fortunate.

Whether an individual has the capacity to use a weapon does not
automatically make them monsters.
