Subject: [Leica] 50/2.8 Elmars...

Steve,

I own the current version in M mount (50/2.8) and a 50/3.5 LTM version.

The current version is a better lens and a different optical formula. The
old LTM version I keep to use with my screw mount Leicas. It is a good lens
for it's day and it provides a lower contrast mellow look to the image.

A number of us would love to see Leica release a limited edition of the
current formula 50/2.8 lens in LTM and I exchanged a number of emails with
Stefan Daniel of Leica on this issue a couple of years back. The current
version is just that good.

Stefan did not think the market size for LTM Elmars justified even a limited
run of lenses.

BTW, I purchased my 50/2.8 lens for a very good price a couple of years back
from a Vancouver, BC, Leica Dealer. It was marked down only because it was
silver.

Regards,

Greg
