Are you using TF4?

Filtering will probably work.... dilution with distilled water will help.
But more or less it should be in solution.  there should not be a
precipitate.

Now a better question... why do you have spots on your negatives?  You wash
after fix, so it is not particles of Fixer that is causing the spots by
adhering to the film.......  What kind of film?  Is there something else
that is causing these spots?  Dust on your drying area?

Or do you suspect a chemical action from this fix that is causing pinholes
in your film?
