As a part of convincing the museum to go with inkjet prints, I soaked
them in a sink full of water. The inks are waterproof. The rag
paper swells slightly when wet, but dries fine. We are having a
problem because the exhibit has a potential of being controversial
and the museum is worrying about protecting the prints from someone
who wants to deface them. That's why I washed them. The museum
would like to go with Costco prints at $9.90 per 17x22 instead of the
$75 custom inkjet prints because they anticipate having to replace
prints if they are defaced. I'm arguing that compromising the
quality because of fear of reactions defeats the whole purpose of the
exhibit. We'll see.
