Richard:

It is not "what it is" which makes peeling paint interesting, Its "what 
else it is"The peels have lost much of their appeal since so many 
photographers started emulating Aaron Siskind and Minor White. They knew 
how to deal with peels.

p.s. excuse the time I've spent on rhyme. I was forced to go...see 
Hustle and Flow. Now  things just  won't be the same and that big black 
guy is all to blame.
