Walt,
This should probably move to the Lugforum.  Nobody on the right wants the
draft.  The military doesn't want the draft.  The regular Army, Navy,
Marines, and Air Force grunts don't want the draft.  The only people who
want the draft are those who are anti-war and want a wedge to get college
students in the streets like the 60's.

Unless there is a major and by major I mean city destroying attack any
congress person who votes for the draft will end up unemployed.  Red State
America is just fine with a volunteer military.  If you volunteer then it is
your choice, not another coercive government intrusion that takes away life,
liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. :)
