Subject: [Leica] gators in the park

I suspect it was when City Park was contiguous with the other water bodies
(and lake) after Katrina. I had heard that gators somehow got into City Park
during Betsy as well. We still have plenty of mocassins (which are unnerving
compared to rattlesnakes...at least the latter give you a warning).

Jeffery, do you have any idea when the park got gator-ized? When I was a
teenager in the 50s we used to skinny-dip in lagoons in the north end of
City Park. They were fairly secluded and the water surface was covered with
algae. Someone had to do a cannonball to bust a hole in the scum so we
could swim. But I don't think there were gators there then. Just
mocassins.
