Finger-rollers or knob-twisters:

 

Maybe I am wrong but I don't think that the Leica user on the snap knows
about finger-rolling: I for one engage the outer side of the knob with the
outer (left) side of the index finger while the thumb tip rests in a
straight line on the back of my IIIc. I have just tried but I am unable to
turn the knob by placing/rotating the index finger on top of it.

p.s. The lens looks like a Summitar to me, which may not be historically
correct but I won't go into that.
